The Inspections Division is responsible for the following:
- Enforcing the North Carolina State Building Code throughout the town’s jurisdiction
- Monitoring construction activities for compliance with local and state regulations
- Enforcing the Town’s Minimum Housing Code
- Providing building inspection and building code information
The State Building Code requires that "[n]o person, firm or corporation shall erect, construct, enlarge, install, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish any building, structure, or service system without first obtaining a permit for such from the Inspections Department having jurisdiction."
